Calming Bottles are an extremely effective method of calming down all children, but especially those with neurodevelopmental disorders such as Autism and ADHD. The glittery, captivating motion of the water soothes anxiety and helps children regulate their emotions. Using the Calming Bottle as a timer when they need a time-out or just a break from an activity is quite useful as well! Shake it up and wait until the glitter settles to the bottom of the bottle.
The video below gives a step-by-step explanation of how to create your own Calming Bottle!
Supplies you will need:
1. Sturdy plastic water bottle
2. Tap water
3. Clear tacky glue
4. Fine glitter or glitter glue (or both)
5. Anything else sparkly or engaging you want to add (like plastic confetti)
6. Super glue for gluing the cap shut so prying hands can't make a mess!
